A bicyclist is dead from a collision with a dump truck on the Virginia Tech campus.

Virginia Tech spokesman Larry Hincker says Bonnie Tinker of Portland, Oregon was hit by the dump truck around 4:30 p.m. She died at the scene of the crash, on West Campus Drive near the drill field.

The truck involved is operated by William Simmons Company out of Giles County.  The driver was hauling dirt from a construction site to Shultz Dining Hall.

Tinker was attending a conference on campus with the Religious Society of Friends. Police are still investigating.
