Thursday night's Virginia Tech football game at Lane Stadium is your chance to kick the Thanksgiving season off a little early.

The Marching Virginians and New Life Christian Fellowship are joining forces for the 13th annual Hokies for the Hungry canned food drive.

The hope is to collecet 66,233 cans. That's one can from every fan.

It will all be donated to the Montgomery County Christmas store and organizers say the need is especially great right now because of the recession.

"Times are really tough right now. A lot of people don't have the money to buy the amount of food that they need for the holidays so just bringing cans, bringing money, anything that can help the Montgomery County Christmas store will be really helpful," says Sara Spangler of the Marching Virginians.

Drop off points will be at all four corners of Lane Stadium Thursday night.
