Amherst investigators call accused sex offender "dangerous"

Authorities in the Lynchburg area are asking for the public's help in locating an accused sex offender they say is "dangerous."

37-year-old Donald Lee Peters, Jr. is wanted by the Amherst and Campbell County Sheriff's offices and Virginia State Police.

Peters is wanted for failing to register as a sex offender, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Investigators say Peters should be considered dangerous because of his weapons violations and the fact that his sex offender status is violent in nature.  Specifics on his alleged crime are not available.
