As a team, the Hokies bounced back. They also got a bounce back performance from Ryan Williams, who rushed for a career high 179 yards.
The red-shirt freshman also surpassed the 1,000 yard mark in the game. It is only the third time in college football history that two freshman running backs reached the 1,000 yard plateau in back-to-back seasons.
Last year, Darren Evans set the single season Hokie freshmen rushing record with 1,265 yards.
Williams is just over 160 yards away from that right now. His career high game Thursday night came on the heels of a late game fumble against North Carolina a week ago.
