That's the concept behind the Vinton Area Corridor study.
The town, along with Roanoke County, is working on a plan to take Vinton into the future.
It focuses on a strategy for improving the land-use and the safety along major roadways like Pollard Street, Bypass Road and Walnut Avenue to name a few.
"Trying to provide a community that people want to live in and then that in turn allows for a market to provide those services. Whether it's grocery stores, pharmacies, gas stations or offices," says Vinton Town Manager Chris Lawrence.
A planning meeting and public hearing is scheduled for December 7th at 7 p.m. in the Vinton War Memorial.
The public is invited to come out and weigh in on what they see.
