If you've ever driven I-64 over Afton Mountain, you know it can be tough.
Now the Virginia Department of Transportation is upgrading the fog lights on Afton Mountain and a stretch of Interstate 64 to LED lamps.
They have a longer life, require less maintenance and are 75 percent more energy-efficient than the incandescent lights put in during the mid-nineties.
The system is made up of 841 lamps, over six miles of I-64.
It's meant to help drivers stay on the road during foggy, rainy, and snowy weather.
