Governor Tim Kaine learned the
news during a meeting with his Advisory
Council on Revenue Estimates today.
The forecast isn't final though.
Kaine is waiting on numbers from
the first quarter which ends September
30th.
He'll take those and advice from
his financial staff to make a final
forecast early next month.
Meanwhile, state agencies are
preparing ways the governor can cut up
to 15- percent of their budgets.
Kaine says nothing is off the

and
Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke.

"Under the bailout, the government
would buy bad mortgages from
financial
institutions that are in trouble. The
Bush administration argues that would
boost banks' bottom lines, making them
more likely to lend money."
Senators expressed grave concern over
the plan's huge price tag, it's lack

feeling to approve the plan within a
matter of days...or else.
(SOT: HENRY PAULSON / TREASURY
SECRETARY) - "I FEEL GREAT URGENCY AND

Bernanke and Paulson want the 700

infuse the market with confidence.
And they say the lack of detail is
understandable since Congress has
never done anything like this before.
(SOT: Henry Paulson/Treasury

12:26:23 "There's going to need to be
some experimentation because we're
dealing with things that have not been
dealt with before."
In the end, and despite the criticism,
most in Congress agree something must
be done, and soon, or things will get
worse. A bill could be passed as early
as the end of this week. Susan
