One person remains in the hospital following a weekend hayride accident in Bedford County.
A group of close friends and their families were enjoying a Fall tradition, and the trip was nearing its end, when the tractor and wagon began climbing a hill. A pin that held the two together failed, and the wagon began rolling backwards. The host of the hayride, Mike Taylor, was driving the tractor when the wagon broke loose. Taylor says he immediately looked at a friend on the wagon and made eye contact. "He knew exactly what was happening and of course I couldn't get off the tractor for fear of the tractor rolling." Taylor said the friend started telling people to get off. "I did too. He was actually grabbing children and he got all of the children off and most of the adults."
Taylor says he's still struggling with the fact that friends and family were hurt on the hayride, but he's been told that everyone will recover from their injuries. For that, he says, he is very thankful.
