There's controversy over a student-produced cartoon at Radford University. It's called "Christ on Campus", and while some students say it's offensive, the artist is sticking by his cartoons and explaining them.
The cartoons are a regular feature on Radford's online student magazine "Whim".
Critics include freshman Blake Fought, who used to write for the magazine. He says the cartoons depict Christ and Christianity in a negative sense. "When you put a cartoon with him in bed with another woman asking for a contraceptive", Fought says, "that's not something Christ would ever do nor did."
The cartoonist is Christian Keesee, and he says his work is being misinterpreted. "I think they're too quick to judge a comic because Jesus is the main character. As opposed to thinking this might be a cool way of explaining something."
In the meantime, Keesee says he'll keep on drawing. He says his cartoon isn't going away anytime soon.
News-7 is not showing the cartoons in their entirety, but you can see them through the link on the left side of this page.
