A Radford man is charged with fatally shooting a Wal-Mart worker while she was on the job Saturday. The suspect was arrested after a standoff that lasted close to seven hours.
Police say 45-year-old Rodney Startz is charged with first degree murder. Startz allegedly used a handgun to kill 46-year-old Donna Angelo as she worked inside the Fairlawn Wal-Mart near Radford. Angelo died several hours after the shooting at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
The standoff began at a residence in Radford shortly after the shooting, and it continued until just before 11:00 p.m.
Police believe Startz and Angelo had some sort of relationship, but as of late Saturday night, the exact nature was not yet clear.
