A confrontation between a busload of gay activists and Liberty University police ended with about two dozen arrests Friday for trespassing. The group Soulforce is sponsoring a bus tour of about 20 religious colleges across the country, pushing for the enrollment of openly gay and lesbian students.
Liberty allowed the group on campus last year, but this year barred them from entering. When activisits entered anyway and refused to leave, they were arrested one-by-one. They are charged with trespassing or inciting others to trespass; all were released on their own recognizance.
They are scheduled to appear in court April 24, but their bus tour is scheduled to be on the road at that point somewhere between Texas and California.
