Scam Alert 7 - PayPal spoof web sites

PayPal is a popular option for eBay shoppers to pay for their items. That makes PayPal users popular prey for the scam artists.

The latest scam is an email being sent out saying that data was lost due to computer problems. It asks users to update their personal and financial information. These "spoof" web sites try to imitate PayPal in order to obtain your password and access to your account.

PayPal says only enter your PayPal password on pages where the URL begins with "https://www.paypal.com/." Even if the URL contains the word 'PayPal', it may not be a PayPal web page.

If you receive one of these emails, immediately forward it to spoof@paypal.com and they will work to shutdown the site.
