Jim Webb responds to Reagan Ad controversy

Nancy Reagan says a new campaign commercial in the Virginia Senate race is out of bounds, but Democrat Jim Webb says he doesn't understand what all the fuss is about.

The commercial due to air next week, includes a clip from a 1985 commencement address President Reagan delivered at the Naval Academy.

Reagan praised Webb who was then serving as an Assistant Secretary of Defense.

"Ronald Reagan made a speech at the Naval Academy, where he turned around and congratulated me on my service in Vietnam and as a member of his administration. That's all the Ad says, and what I said last night, if George Allen's people want to go in the Reagan archives and find something nice that Ronald Reagan said about George Allen, then they ought to put it on the air," said Jim Webb.
