A log truck accident made a mess of things on Route 220 north of Roanoke for much of the day. The truck overturned this morning near the intersection of Country Club Road in Botetourt County. That's between the Ashley Plantation Golf Course and Fincastle.
The driver tells State Police he heard something pop, then lost control. Logs spilled across the median and both northbound lanes, making for a long cleanup. Traffic was slowed in both directions for hours as crews removed all the spilled logs.
All lanes of the roadway were cleared by 5:00 p.m.
