Robert F. Kennedy Jr. talks about the environment at Virginia Tech
A well known environmentalist is taking issue with Jerry Falwell's comments. On Sunday, the Lynchburg minister called global warming a myth.
Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. was at Virginia Tech tonight to deliver a speech about the environment. He compared Falwell to those who believe the earth is flat, and those who claim tobacco isn't harmful. He even accused Falwell of being a flak for the Exxon Corporation.
During his speech, Kennedy said we rely too much on foreign oil. He suggested the money the U.S. has spent on the war in the Middle East could have been spent on protecting the environment.
Kennedy also criticized the news media for the way it has covered the issue of global warming. He believes it is now a scientific fact. Therefore, we should not air the views of those who think global warming is a hoax. He also says there is no liberal media. Kennedy believes it's more of a right wing media.
He also criticized President Bush's record on the environment, calling it one of the worst.
