Teen starts website campaign against Valley View rule

The curfew policy going into effect at Valley View Mall has some teens up in arms. The new rule starts this Friday, and it state everyone under 18 will need adult supervision when they visit Valley View on weekend nights after 6:00.

One teen not happy with the policy is 16-year-old Courtney Lazore.  She created a website aimed at protesting the mall's decision. Click here to see the website.

She is encouraging others to join in her fight by signing a protest list, e-mailing Valley View managers, and boycotting the mall all together. "That makes me feel like they think we're like five-year-olds or something and parents need to follow us around," says Lazore. Referring to others her age, she adds: "They feel like they're being treated like little kids. To us, it's not fair if we behave.  Why punish 95% that don't do anything for the five people that do?"

She hopes if enough people decide to take their dollars elsewhere, it will send a message to the mall to reconsider its new rule.

Valley View declined to comment.  But they've previously said it stands behind the policy and has no plans of doing away with it. Mall officials have said conduct by increasing numbers of unsupervised teens has created an uncomfortable atmosphere for other mall customers.
