Good Samaritan talks about saving a couple after an explosion

Two people remain hospitalized after a home explosion.

It all started yesterday morning in Rocky Mount when this home on High Street exploded.

The homeowners Robert and Mary Turner were trapped inside. A neighbor rescued them.

Police are still investigating but they believe a propane heater in the basement is to blame.

Yuji Hairston heard the explosion and jumped into action.

Once Hairston realized people were trapped inside the burning house he went in searching for them.

Hairston was able to get both Robert and Mary Turner out just as help was arriving. His quick response has left the Turner's family members very grateful.

Even though it meant going in harms way without any gear on, Hairston wasn't concerned. He spent 8 years in the Marine Corps and served in Iraq so this was familiar territory.
