More than 150, Virginians have been killed since 2000 in the War on Terror.
To mark Veterans Day, Stuart native Darrell Bowling and his wife Rita joined Attorney General Bob McDonnell at the Wall of Honor in Richmond.
Bowling's son, Corporal Jonathan Bowling was killed in an enemy ambush in Al-anbar Province, Iraq nearly two ago.
Jonathan's love of Virginia inspired the wall, which was dedicated last spring.
Bowling told the crowd that gathered this morning, Americans have an obligation to honor veterans.
He said, "There's no way we can repay anybody that's ever wore a uniform for putting themselves in that position. They stood up for us, they fought for us. Even if they weren't in war they were doing something to support our troops in the protection of our country."
Since the wall was dedicated in May, 18, more Virginians have been killed.
Their pictures will be added to the wall this spring.
