A pair of deer caused a ruckus on the Radford University campus Tuesday when they broke into Walker Hall.
Student Mark Mavilia was working in the building when the deer busted through some double glass doors around 11:00 a.m.
"We heard this crash outside the door," says Mavilia. "It sounded like gunshots. It was kind of scary."
"Everybody was running, screaming 'Deer, deer, deer,'" says Tom Steele, an employee at Radford.
When the deer broke through the glass, one went up some stairs and another ran down a hallway. They left a mess of broken glass and a trail of blood and fur through the hallways.
With some help, one deer made its way back outside nearly running into students as it escaped. Inside, the smaller of the two deer, a young buck, ran around upstairs. Steele followed it and tried to calm it down.
"I felt so sorry for them because they were hurt, scared, didn't know what to do," says Steele. "Bless their hearts. They were just trying to get out anywhere they could."
An animal control officer got the deer outside, but it was badly injured and died. No people were hurt.
