According to the Virginia State Board of Elections, more than 306,000 voters have registered this year, 42% of those are believed to be under the age of 25.
Locally, people filtered in and out of the registrar's office all day, so they would be able to vote in next month's presidential race.Monday was the last day to register to vote in Virginia.

Although the deadline has come and gone for people to register in person, you can still do it by mail, as long as it's postmarked with Monday's date.
In Roanoke, a steady stream of people tried to beat the deadline. While some stopped by, others called to make sure everything was in line.
"This is a record. Last presidential election, we had about 56,000, 55,000, but we're already over 60,000" said Odessa King, Roanoke's assistant registrar.
In Salem, it was much of the same.
