A cable news veteran is coming back to her Lynchburg roots.

CNN political reporter Candy Crowley is visiting her alma mater, Randolph College.  Crowley is a 1970 graduate of what was then Randolph Macon Woman's College.

She's in town talking to political science and news reporting students at Randolph.  Crowley says she enjoyed covering the presidential campaigns this year, but she almost turned down the assignment.

"I thought, ok, I'll sit back. I'll tell everybody what it all means from Washington and go home every night to my own bed. And then I looked at it and thought 'not this time,'" said Crowley.

She will share her thoughts on covering the election at a public talk Tuesday night.  It's at Randolph's Smith Hall Theater.  The event starts at 7:30 p.m.
