( Chiaki Kawajiri, Baltimore Sun / May 1, 2003 ) Maryland's premier film festival will never be mistaken for Cannes or Sundance, insofar as celebrity sightings are concerned. But keep your eyes open and your autograph books primed. In addition to hometown boys John Waters (pictured, right), Barry Levinson (pictured, left) and David Simon, all of whom have made appearances at past festivals, the MFF has been visited by Liev Schreiber, Melvin Van Peebles, Harry Belafonte, Kathryn Bigelow and Matthew Modine. Local celebs to make an appearance have included Cal Ripken Jr., Anne Tyler, Taylor Branch, Dorothy Hamill and Brian Billick. |
