Allison Garwood Freedland has joined the Chicago chapter of the American Institute of Architects as program manager.
Garwood Freedland will organize programs, events and competitions for architecture and design professionals, including AIA Chicago's Designight, which recognizes winners of the group's Design Excellence Awards.
She joins AIA Chicago from the Historic Chicago Bungalow Association, where she was a consultant and assistant director and developed Chicago's annual Bungalow Exposition. Before that, she was a research and marketing assistant at Kieran Timberlake Architects and worked in outreach services at Partners for Sacred Places in Philadelphia.
Garwood Freedland has a bachelor's degree in arts management from Eastern Michigan University and a master's degree in historic preservation from the University of Pennsylvania.
