POLK COUNTY, Ga. -- Six inmates helped save an officer who passed out during a work detail by calling 911.
On Monday, June 12, an officer who was working security for the Polk County Sheriff's Office work detail passed out.
Six of the inmates who were there jumped into action. They contacted EMS and also removed his outer carrier vest in order to help him cool off.
In a Facebook post, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said in part "as we watched the horrific man hunt this week of the two inmates that killed two Correctional Officers and were captured last night we all know that Monday could have ended differently for our Officer. We are very proud of the actions of all 6 inmates involved."
The officer's family members provided lunch and desserts to the inmates involved a few days later.
