Amherst County Sheriff's Office investigating social media threat at Amherst High School

The Sheriff’s Office has been able to determine the source of the threat this morning at Amherst County High School and can confirm that it was not a credible threat.

Charges are pending and more will be released upon arrest of the suspect.


The Campbell County Sheriff's Office says they're also stepping up security at Brookville High School today because of a school threat.

According to the Amerst County Sheriff's Office, a social media threat was made toward some students at Amherst County High School Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

Parents received an email about this threat at 6 a.m.

The Amherst County Sheriff's Office says this threat is unsubstantiated and school will be operating as normal.

They also say this threat is similar to threats received at other schools in the area.

Amherst County deputies will be at the school this morning as a precaution.
