Officials say Amherst County fire "suspicious;" house is a total loss

AMHERST CO,. Va. (WDBJ7) According to Amherst County Public Safety Director Gary Roakes, the Amherst County Fire Department responded to a house fire Wednesday morning in the 2300 block of Boxwood Farm Road.

Officials are saying this fire is "suspicious" because this is the second fire at this location in four years.

Right now, the Amherst County Public Safety Department says no one in the house was injured.

Roakes says the house is a total loss.

Crews are still scouring the rubble and Virginia State Police is still on the scene to investigate the cause of the fire.
