Animal killed in Botetourt County house fire

BLUE RIDGE, Va. (WDBJ7) Firefighters spent part of Monday afternoon battling flames at a home near Route 460 in Botetourt County.

Crews were called to a home on Bradley Lane in Blue Ridge Monday afternoon. Heavy smoke could be seen coming from an attic area of the house.

No one was inside the home when the fire started. A dog was inside the house and was killed, according to firefighters.

Firefighters from Botetourt County, Roanoke County, Blue Ridge, and Read Mountain are at the scene.
