Annual Roanoke concert raises money for Hope Initiative

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) Attendees packed the pews at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Roanoke Sunday night, ready to take in the sounds of the 7th Annual Carols by Candlelight concert.

Every year, the church donates proceeds to a different local charity.

"The streets are packed," church councilmember Stephanie Leiser said of the overwhelming turnout. "We have an amazing choir. We have amazing guest musicians. This is a performance that people arrive every year an hour early just to get a seat. So not only is it a good performance, it also is for a good cause."

This year's service benefits the Hope Initiative, which is run by Bradley Free Clinic in partnership with Roanoke Police Department. Police Chief Tim Jones could be seen in on the choir's top row.
