UPDATE: Police say Roanoke man has died after being hit by vehicle

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) -- UPDATE

Officials say a man has died after being hit by a vehicle near Old Stevens Road and Troutland Avenue N.W.

A spokesman for the Roanoke Police Department says James Edward Rose, 51, of Roanoke, was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators say Rose was lying in the roadway when he was hit by the vehicle. The driver then called 911 to report the incident and cooperated with officials.

No charges have been placed at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.

Roanoke Police are investigating an incident which sent one person to the hospital.

According to a release from the Roanoke Police Department, a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at Troutland Avenue and Old Stevens Road NW.
