DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) Most Averett University students haven't moved in yet, but a select group, known as the National Bonner Leaders, have.
The National Bonner Leaders spent the day Wednesday touring Danville and learning more about the city's history.
They met with Rick Barker, who is in charge of several revitalization projects on Craghead Street.
The Bonner leaders were able to get an insight into the history of several buildings and learn more about the process of change.
"As incoming freshmen it's really opened our eyes and let us see what Danville is all about, so we're not just stuck on campus and we're really making a change in the community," says National Bonner Leadership Student, Margaret Bautisda.
Bonner Leaders will serve various organizations in Danville throughout their four years.
