BJ's Wholesale announces plans for Roanoke location

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) A nationally-known membership-based retailer announced plans Friday to open its first location in the Roanoke Valley.

BJ's Wholesale Club will locate in the Crossroads Shopping Center along Hershberger Road. In addition to offering food and clothing items, BJ's will also sell gas at its Roanoke site.

"We're thrilled to bring BJ's Wholesale Club to the community and to let families save up to 25% on their groceries," said Chris Baldwin, president and CEO, BJ's Wholesale Club in a statement posted on the company's website. "BJ's is the perfect one-stop shopping destination, offering unbeatable value and quality on a wide selection of items from fresh produce, deli and bakery to the latest in tech, health and beauty and apparel."

BJ's currently operates more than 200 clubs in 15 states, with a business model similar to Sam's Club and Costco. The Roanoke Valley BJ's location is scheduled to open in 2018.
