An active investigation is underway along Tinker Creek.

A WDBJ7 crew captured images of the activity near Radford Road in Northeast Roanoke.

Roanoke City Police say they are investigating "the potential of human remains being concealed in an outdoor location." Officers have been working in that area since 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Roanoke Police Evidence Technicians, as well as the Office of the Medical Examiner personnel, are currently collecting physical evidence from an area near Tinker Creek, according to Roanoke City Police Captain Eric Charles.

The area where this police investigation is taking place is the same area where a missing woman named Edme Merle-Perez lived before she disappeared in March. Police have not said whether their work is related to Merle-Perez's case.
