UPDATE: Two female students arrested for threat incident at Bassett High School

BASSETT, Va. (WDBJ7) UPDATE:

Two female students have been arrested as a result of the threats at Bassett High School. Deputies say the students admitted that the threat was a hoax and there was never a threat to students.

UPDATE:

According to Monica Adams Hatchett, the Public Information Officer for Henry County Schools, the investigation regarding the alleged threat at Bassett High School will continue into the afternoon.

Hatchett says during this investigation, property will be unavailable to the public.

Bassett High School students are to remain at Fieldale-Collinsville Middle School until the end of the day when they will be taken home by school bus from the middle school.

Hatchett says parents who are on an approved list and who show a driver's license can sign their student out of Fieldale-Collinsville Middle School.

School officials say all after school activities at Bassett High School are canceled today.

According to Monica Adams Hatchett, the Public Information Officer for Henry County Schools, Bassett High School and the Henry County Sheriff's Office is investigating an alleged threat to student safety at Bassett High School.

Hatchett says because of current outdoor weather conditions, students are being taken to Fieldale-Collinsville Middle School as the sheriff's department investigates.
