‘Be a Santa to a Senior’ program looking for help to spread holiday cheer

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) -- It may still be weeks from Christmas, but some are already planning to bring holiday cheer to local seniors.

Be a Santa to a Senior (WDBJ7)

Home Instead is partnering with area retail stores, nonprofits and local businesses for their annual "Be a Santa to a Senior" gift giving program.

The program aims to make the holidays brighter for low-income and isolated seniors.

Around 2,000 seniors are in need of gifts in Roanoke and the Lynchburg area.

Organizers say you can help by either purchasing, wrapping or delivering gifts.

“It’s actually very humbling because a lot of the gift that these seniors request are typically things the average person would take for granted,” explained Krista Johnson, the project Coordinator for Lynchburg.

The collection deadline is December first. If you’d like to get involved, click here.
