Bedford County Sheriff's Office announces passing of retired K9

BEDFORD Co., Va. (WDBJ7) The Bedford County Sheriff's Office posted to their Facebook Wednesday morning that their retired K9 Blesk has died at 17-years-old because of medical issues.

According to the Sheriff's Office, K9 Blesk served for the Bedford County Sheriff's Office for eight years before he retired in 2012.

They say in their Facebook post that Blesk assisted in many narcotics cases and served as a narcotics detection K9 at both Forest Middle School and Liberty High School, where he made many friends while serving.

After his retirement, K9 Blesk lived with his handler, Sgt. Hatcher.

In their Facebook post, the Bedford County Sheriff's Office thanked K9 Blesk for his service.
