UPDATE: 29-year-old man killed following crash along Route 24 in Bedford County

According to Virginia State Police, Justin Ryan Holdren, 29, of Bedford died after a crash on Route 24 near the intersection of Route 807 in Bedford County Wednesday.

Police said the accident happened at 2:50 p.m. Wednesday.

According to police, Anthony Thomas Rezzonico, 24, of Bedford was driving his 1991 Toyota 4 Runner east on Route 24 with Holdren in the passenger seat. The vehicle crossed the center line and ran off the left side of the road hitting a fence and trees.

Police said the driver, Rezzonico, was not wearing his seat belt and was taken by EMS to the hospital. The passenger, Holdren, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.

Police said charges are pending and they are still investigating.


Virginia State Police say at least one person has died, following a crash along Route 24 in Moneta.

Troopers say a driver lost control of their vehicle in the 2400 block of Stewartsville Road (Route 24) around 3:15 Wednesday afternoon. The vehicle landed 15 to 20 feet down an embankment.

Emergency crews remain on scene and Route 24 is blocked in the area of Scenic View Road and Harvey's Creek Road.


Emergency crews in Bedford County are at the scene of a serious vehicle crash in Moneta.

Firefighters say a car overturned along Route 24 near Staunton River High School around 3:15 Wednesday afternoon.

At least one person was trapped inside the car after the crash, according to a social media post from the Forest Volunteer Fire Department.

Traffic is blocked along Route 24 in the area of Scenic View Road and Harvey's Creek Road.
