FOREST, Va. (WDBJ7)- Christmas is over a month away, but one group in Bedford County is starting early. They want to make sure soldiers can see their loved ones during the holidays.
It's called Operation H.O.M.E. Byron and Melissa Davis have a son who is serving in the armed forces, stationed in Anchorage, Alaska. In 2015 they learned from their son that while a lot of soldiers are granted leave time during the holidays, many are not able to come home because of the expense.
"They want to make sure that we have our freedoms. But yet they don't have a lot of money. They don't have what it takes sometimes to get home and see their family,"said Founder of Operation H.O.M.E., Byron Davis. "So we want to help as many as we can."
Operation H.O.M.E. has a goal this year to bring back 30 soldiers. More information on how you can help can be found at their website: www.operationhome.us
