BEDFORD, Va. (WDBJ7) Less fortunate children in Bedford County will have presents to open on Christmas morning thanks to their classmates at an area school.
Students at Bedford Science and Technology Center are donating around 300 items to Bedford County Social Services.
For the last few weeks, BSTC students have brought in new toys and clothing.
Those who couldn't afford to buy an entire gift donated money, which school leaders used to buy additional presents.
"Whether it was 50 cents or a dollar, whatever they could bring in to make someone's Christmas successful is what they've done.," explained BSTC teacher, Aaron Payne. "No amount was too small."
"It makes me feel happy," said BSTC student, Matthew Farmer. "I love helping out people, especially children, so it makes me feel great."
Students spent the morning Wednesday wrapping their gift donations.
Bedford County Social Services will deliver the presents to families next week.
