UPDATE: Bedford County supervisors decide against pay raise

BEDFORD, Va. (WDBJ7) UPDATE:

The Bedford County Board of Supervisors has decided against giving themselves a pay raise.

The decision came during a work session Monday night.

Annual salaries for regular board members would have increased from $6,600 to $8,500.

As Bedford County leaders plan their budget for next year, they're looking at an item that relates to their own wallets.

Supervisors are thinking about giving themselves a pay raise.

Annual salaries for regular board members would increase from $6,600 to $8,500.

The chairman of the board would make even more. Right now that person is paid $8,100. Supervisors want to raise that amount to an even $10,000.

The total amount they're looking to spend on raises is around $14,300.
That would include costs for medicare and worker's compensation.

Supervisors will discuss the topic during their work session Monday afternoon. The meeting starts at 5 at the county administration building in Bedford.
