Bedford artist showcases art as therapy in "Art Evokes Emotion"

BEDFORD, Va. (WDBJ7) In Bedford County, an artist is using her work as a form of therapy. She has now opened an exhibit to allow other people to experience her art in the same way.

It's called "Art Evokes Emotion" and is currently being held at the Electric Company Art Gallery. The pieces in this collection capture the artist's emotions at some of her darkest points. By putting her emotions onto canvas, she hopes to minister to others during their hard times.

"I felt this and I thought other people are feeling this also and maybe they need something like this to identify with,” said Lisa Floyd, the artist behind the paintings.

It is an interactive exhibit, asking people to write down what emotion they see in the art. Floyd’s show runs through the end of the month.
