Bedford business owner collects relief supplies for flood victims

BEDFORD, Va. (WDBJ7) A business owner in Bedford is making a personal effort to collect relief items for the flood victims.

Tara Jones is trying to fill up two delivery trucks with supplies like water, pet food, and cleaning products.

Jones is the owner of the Liberty Antique Mall on Industrial Avenue. She was touched by images of destruction and says she personally reached out to the mayor of Rainelle, West Virginia to ask what was needed.

"I just want to do something from Bedford," Jones told WDBJ7. "This is my hometown and I thought we would have a lot of turnout and response, and we have."

Jones plans to drive a load of supplies to Rainelle and Rupert Thursday morning. She'll continue to collect items for West Virginia at the Liberty Antique Mall through July 5. Items can be dropped off daily from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
