BEDFORD, Va. (WDBJ7) If you travel through the town of Bedford this month, you may see work produced by that community's young artists.

Students and teachers from schools in every corner of Bedford County have painted more than 40 banners. Some showcase local landmarks while others feature more abstract designs.

The artwork will hang on lamp posts in downtown Bedford through the end of March.

The installation is one of several events to recognize "Youth Art Month."

"This is a showcase of what our students do all year. It allows the community to come inside our classrooms, and allows us to go out into the community as a partnership and share," said Leslie Bowyer, a Liberty High School art teacher who helped organize the banner project.

The banners were funded by artists, businesses, individual donors, and the town of Bedford.
