BASSETT, Va. (WDBJ7) At Ed Bassett Stadium, the home-standing Bengals opened their season with Blacksburg.
And the Bruins had some tricks on the opening kick. Coleton Beck faked the reverse and our camera. Beck picked up a couple of blocks and he got a seam, breaking to the far sideline and scooting 91 yards on the kick return for the score, and it was 7-nothing.
The Bengals fought back. Dylan McKinney went up top for Justin Taylor on the pretty touchdown pass, and Bassett was on the board.
Those two hooked up again in the second quarter. Taylor makes the grab at the pylon to give the home team the lead at 14-7.
But Blacksburg got a TD pass from Grant Johnston to Gideon Driscoll. The Bruins flipped the switch and rocked the Bengals 48-14 the final.
