LEXINGTON, Va. (WDBJ7) April is national child abuse awareness and prevention month.
So outside Lexington's public library, VMI cadets helped plant a small garden of blue pinwheels to advertise the work to help fight this problem.
“It’s going on much more than people realize," says Judy Casteele, Exec. Dir. of Project Horizon. "It’s one of those hidden secrets. People don’t want to talk about it; who wants to talk about child abuse? But in our local area, just in the last fiscal year, Project Horizon worked with 118 victims of child abuse.”
Project Horizon is working with the Department of Social Services on the program.
