RADFORD, Va. (WDBJ7) The Radford Heritage Foundation kicked off its fourth 'Celebrate Radford' Festival.

This year, the 'Radford Reads' and 'Celebrate Radford' festivals were combined. Admission to both events was free.

Thirty local and nationally acclaimed authors gave presentations and book signings on their work at the historical Glencoe Museum.

Organizers say the hope is to educate and broaden horizons.

"We want people to take away a sense of pride in this area that there is a strong history here, a strong artistic tradition and a literary tradition in this region. Take advantage of all this area has to offer," said Glencoe Museum and Gallery director, Scott Gardner.

Book-lovers not only got a chance to enjoy some of their favorite books, they also got a little history lesson with craft demonstrations, storytelling and re-enactments.
