Brewery coming to Danville, expected to open in April

DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) Danville is getting a new brewery.

State officials announced Tuesday that Ballad Brewing of Danville will open in Danville in April.

The brewery will make around 10,000 barrels per year. It will invest $1.5 million into the Danville brewery.

Ballad Brewing anticipates creating six new jobs in its first year.

The brewer comes to Danville from a Connecticut brewery and will be experimenting with all types of beer.

"Pilsners, Pale ales, many variety's of IPA's, what is all the craft beer craze right now. We are hoping to make a approachable beer for a variety of beer drinkers," Head Brewer John Andorfer said.

The brewery on Craghead Street in the River District is expected to open in April.

The rest of the building is being developed into apartments and retail space.
