BUENA VISTA, Va. (WDBJ7) In Buena Vista, kids returning to school will find something new in the classroom.

Buena Vista's schools got 715 new Chromebooks through a Standards of Learning technology initiative grant.

"We used to have laptops for students within our classrooms as well as labs that teachers were checking out to test their students on," explains Melissa Cobb, the lead Social Studies Teacher at Parry McCluer High School. "But now, with the Chromebooks, they're inexpensive, they're secure, they're easy to use, and we can update them through the push of a button primarily."

The Chromebooks will be used in three of Buena Vista's four schools.
