LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) Central Virginia Community College has been recognized as Virginia Manufacturers Association Workforce Partner of the Year.
The award recognzies CVCC's MT1 certificate course. It teaches students manufacturing skills needed to go into the workforce.
They have offered MT1 through four different platforms ranging from a traditional academic setting to, most recently, a training class in the Amherst jail.
"Students who might not otherwise get the opportunity to learn and to gain these skills and these certifications are getting these opportunities," said Marci Gale, a member of the Mechatronics faculty.
The college is able to offer the course on so many platforms because of community partnerships. Open enrollment is happening now for the course in the spring.
