Central Virginia region contributes to hurricane relief efforts

BEDFORD, Va. (WDBJ7) Donations for those affected by Harvey are coming in from all over, including the Central Virginia Region.

Volunteers were collecting donations in Lynchburg and Bedford today. Several churches and local groups teamed up with Gleaning for the World to organize the efforts.

Some volunteers have talked with people in Houston to make sure they are collecting supplies that are needed.

"Just how generous people are. And uh how much they want to help. I mean you know, we can't go to Texas. But we can help. And um, that's how we love is through our help," said Kent Wise, Pastor with the Bellevue Charge.

The donations from Bedford will be driven to Concord tomorrow (Wednesday) and then shipped to Texas. Sam's Club in Lynchburg will continue accepting donations through the end of the week.
