BEDFORD, Va. (WDBJ7) A judge has dismissed an obstruction of justice charge against a Bedford County woman.

Gladys Stangee was charged in 2015 for failing to cooperate with a special grand jury assigned to investigate the disappearance of Katherine and Sheila Lyon, two sisters who disappeared from a Maryland shopping mall in 1975.

Stangee is related to Lloyd Lee Welch, Jr., who is charged with first degree felony murder and accused of killing the Lyon sisters.

Prosecutors asked Judge Jim Updike to dismiss Stangee's charge during a hearing Friday. Updike granted the request.

Welch is scheduled to go on trial in April.
